The Women occupy an important place at the home front and the society at large. Basically, the welfare of the children, home and the Society is of utmost concern to the women. But despite this, the women are faced with myriad of problems as issues of discrimination against them in the form of limited inheritance rights, spousal abuse still remain an ever growing concern. To this end, the team is expected to:
• Examine abuses suffered by women and available protection offered by existing laws; • Study existing blueprint on women’s rights (if any) with a view to making necessary review(s). • Identify one widespread problem in relation to women’s rights. • Produce a draft proposal on the problem identified and the proposal must be such that outlines practical ways of tackling the identified problem. • Facilitate meetings with relevant authorities in the Local Government on Women Protection Issues. • Design a programme in relation to this mandate. The coverage area is Akoko South West Local Government Area in Ondo State.
